Corporal John Gallatin Paxton Keeley described his military service in Europe to the Columbia Missourian. His unit assisted in the capture of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp, leading to his first hand discovery of the atrocities committed there. If his name seems familiar, he was the son of journalist Mary Paxton Keeley, a local elementary school’s namesake.; “Cpl.
