The "Historic Edition" of the Columbia Missouri Herald was a booklet of biographies, portraits, landmark images, notable events and statistical data relating to Boone County that was published by Edwin W. Stephens and edited by Walter Williams in 1895. In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the newspaper, it memorializes prominent citizens and institutions of Boone County, with a focus on Columbia. Such institutions include schools, churches, the Columbia Cemetery and more.
Please note: as a document authored in the late 1800s in a racially segregated society, the attitudes and language within include bias, racial slurs and content that readers may find offensive, though relevant to understanding the cultural landscape of Boone County at that time.
